Adams & Victor's Manual of Neurology
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill Professional (10 December, 2001)
Average review score:

Useful summaryThis book is a useful brief review and compendium of diagnostic neurological information. The paperback version is small enough to carry around or put in a briefcase. The book packs a considerable amount of information into about 400 pages. There are a couple of dozen chapters, organized according to the usual neurological disease categories, and there are a number of nicely done charts and tables that make good, quick references. Keep in mind this book is not intended to be exhaustive and is meant as a quick review or reference. It is intended for practicing physicians, so familiarity with the technical and medical terminology is assumed, and most technical terms are not explained. The book benefits from recent research, and contains up-to-date information on such rapidly changing areas as Alzheimer's. The book has references into Adams and Ropper's larger neurological handbook for those who want more information. Overall a good, concise reference work in neurology.

The Adams Chronicles: Four Generations of Greatness
Published in Paperback by Smithmark Publishing (March, 1989)
Average review score:

A Wonderful Exploration of Genius. While I have enjoyed the most recent work by David McCullough on Adams, this was the book that started it all for me as far as American history was concerned. I remember at the age of 11 watching the PBS series and being enthralled. This book was even better in relaying the story of America's greatest socio-political family. If you can find a copy, get it!

Adams Vs Texas
Published in Hardcover by World Publications (January, 1920)
Average review score:

An amazingly true storyPassing through a law and order phase in my reading life i came across Adams Vs. Texas and have to say it was amazing. Adams Vs. Texas is the story of a semi-drifter who, a victim of circumstances, was charged with the murder he didn't do of a man he didn't know and as a result comes up against the State of Texas as a murderer and faces death in the electric chair. His contact with investagators, lawyers, judges, wardens, other convicts, the press, a painfully deluded prosecutor, and the real criminal of the case are combined to make a powerfully compelling story, spaning over twelve years of trial, imprisionment, hardship and finally, triumph. In the midst of this ugly line of events Adams belives that God has him where he is for a porpose and in the end that is true, but it's sad one man had to make such a sacrifice and wonderful that he was able to.
The fact that the events in this book really happened to a man is incredable, but they are presented in such and honest, down-to-earth manner that makes it a real tribute to the man who both went through this expierence and survived, both physically and mentally to tell his story. Wherever you are, Randall Dale Adams, I'm sorry they did that to you and you deserve all the happiness in the world. As for the rest of you--go read Adams Vs. Texas and remember another, much larger, sacrifice made for you over 2,000 years ago and accept and cherish His gift to you: Life--forever

Adams' Guide to Coding and Reimbursement: 1998 Update
Published in Paperback by Mosby (June, 1998)
Average review score:

Best Book For This Level of InstructionAfter having taught from a variety of books I feel that this book is the BEST for entry level coding instruction. This will not prepare a student for certified coder, by any means; however it is well written, organized, easy for students to understand, colorful - just an all around wonderful instruction book for beginners in coding - includes cpt, icd9, hcfa completion, etc; all the important things. If you wanted more indepth coding - such as needed for physician office certification level (advanced) I would suggest step-by-step coding by Carol Buck - also an excellent book.

Average review score:

Excellent review of contemporary Israeli ArtI absolutely love this book - it has brilliant images of contemporary artists work, and detailed reviews of the art and artists as well as reference to historical and contemporary issues of politics, gender, ethnicity and religion in relation to Israeli art. Each author gives an individual and detailed contribution to the book. It cannot be missed by anyone who is interested in Israeli art and the issues surrounding it.

Against Cheap Grace in a World Come of Age: An Intellectual Biography of Clayton Powell, 1865-1953 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Studies in Religion, Culture, and Social dEvelopment, Vol. 9)
Published in Paperback by Peter Lang Publishing (05 September, 2002)
Average review score:

The Conversion of Dietrich BonhoefferRalph Clingan's book illuminates important dimensions of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's conversion, which he attributed to the six months he attended Clayton Powell's Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem. This is the most important theological work of the past fifty years. I based my Reformation Day Sermon on the book. It reads like a conversation, very readable, if compressed. I want to see more detailed treatments of some of Powell's sources than allowed in this small volume.

The Age of Modernism: Art in the 20th Century
Published in Hardcover by Distributed Art Publishers (June, 1997)
Average review score:

A Great Book!I love to look at pictures, but can't bear to read. This book is fantastic for a novice like me. It seems to have a wonderful representation of diverse artists in this movement. I cannot comment on the quality of the reproductions, but they look great to me. I have spent many a night studying the plates, seeking inspiration, and have found this to be an excellent reference guide and source of hope.

The Airship
Published in Paperback by University Press of the Pacific (July, 2001)
Average review score:

Perhaps we could have airships againThe book itself is a classic from the 1930s, but the afterword by Dr. Starchild did a good job of convincing me that this old form of transportation could still have a wonderful potential.

Alcatraz! Alcatraz! the Indian Occupation of 1969-1971
Published in Library Binding by Borgo Press (December, 1991)
Average review score:

Very moving and honest.........Every time I read about the history of Native Americans I tend to get very angry. This was the case when I read this book. The author wrote an honest account of what happened before, during and after the occupation of Alcatraz and again it is a story of injustice. Well written.
